Generative engine optimization is not a trick. It is the discipline of making your website unambiguous enough that a language model can restate your offer without inventing details.

Step 1 — Let the crawlers in

Check robots.txt for blanket blocks on AI user agents. If you intend to be cited, you have to be readable. Publish an llms.txt file describing your business, key pages and contact details in plain text.

Step 2 — Make the entity explicit

One sentence near the top of the homepage should carry business type, primary service and city. Back it with Organization and LocalBusiness schema that repeats the same values.

Step 3 — Answer real questions

Assistants favour content shaped like an answer. Add an FAQ section with FAQPage markup that mirrors the wording customers actually use.

  • Do you serve my neighbourhood?
  • How much does the service typically cost?
  • How fast can you start?
  • What makes you different from nearby providers?
